Here at Friars Oven Farm Hideaways we are very conscious of our environment and the ways that we can reduce our carbon footprint and help to preserve the wonderful idyllic countryside we experience today. As we are a natural countryside place we have tried to reflect this in becoming a "green" business.

The ways that have developed our green ethical stamp:

-We provide you with composting bins in each studio to encourage our guests to compost resulting in reduced food waste in landfill.

-We provide you with as much organic produce as we can.

-We use local produce where possible to ensure that our produce has come from ethical sources and also low air-mileage. Plus we get to support our local businesses!

-We homemake our bread and our cake not only so that you get the freshest and tastiest supplies, but also so that we know that nothing unethical and nasty has gone into it.

-We heat our facilities using renewable systems: an air-sourced heat pump.

-The electricity for our facilites is from renewable systems: solar panels. In addition to this, in Tawny Owl we have no electricity at all, all lights are solar powered, from the main lights, to the twinkly fairy lights to the lanterns.

-We leave patches of our grass long to promote wildlife habitats for example leaving the clover and cowslips and other wildflowers so as to attract bee's, butterflies and other valuable insects, not to mention leaving it as cover for the mice that our famous owls pray on.

Ways that you can help us to sustain and maintain our green ethical stamp is:

-Please use the composting bins provided in each studio to reduce the food waste that goes to landfill.

-Please recycle everything possible in the bins provided outside your accommodation to reduce our contributions to landfill.

-Please turn off lights when not needed.

-Please keep windows and doors closed so as to save on heating .
